Jan Åman: Curator, Creative Director of content, communication and programming

Jan Åman is a curator, writer, activist and cultural entrepreneur specialized in the intersection between food, cities, art and social phenomena. He is the founder of several cultural platforms, such as Färgfabriken, that with Åman as Founding director (1996-2008) became one of Europe’s most innovative venues for developing art and urbanity.

Savinien Caracostea: Curator, Creative Director of content, communication and programming

Savinien Caracostea has degrees in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Cornell University, a degree in Pastry Arts from the International Culinary Center in NYC, and has extensive experience in film, photography, and graphic design. A specialist in the intersection of urbanity and food, he has produced several exhibitions and summits in the USA and internationally.

Johan Jorgensen: Director of the Innovation Accelerator program

With more than 20 years of experience in the Internet sector Johan has an extensive background as entrepreneur and investor, appointed “Venture Capitalist of the Year” in 2011 by Veckans Affärer, Sweden’s version of Business Week. He is considered a top business developers and is a highly sought-after advisor and board member.

Heather Jonasson, Research and Administration

Heather Jonasson is an administrator, translator and writer. She has a degree in Humanities from Lee College in Texas and also spent 5 years studying media/communications at the University of Houston, Texas.  She is in charge of social media (blog posts, Twitter, email) for the Feeding the Accelerator project.

Shantel Blakely, Research and Administration – Mentor Minds

Shantel Blakely is an event coordinator based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.



Daniele Pagani, Accelerator CEO

Daniele has started his career following a startupper path, joining Funambol in 2002 that became one of the most successful Italian startup and later an USA startup acquired by Nokia in 2010. He has been heading Nokia’s team responsible to build the mobile application ecosystem in Italy and he now leads activities and operations to support Italian startups through Microsoft offering programs, where he serves as Senior Marketing Manager Startups.

Mario Fontana, Accelerator CTO

Mario is an accomplished IT Architect in mobile and cloud architecture with a great passion for supporting and coaching technical leaders. At Microsoft he leads the BizSpark program and heads up Microsoft’s strategy for Startup in Italy. He has spent about 15 years in technical consulting roles including long term engagements within large enterprise customers and global partners. In the last 4 years he had the opportunity to use his technical and leadership skills to help talented people to launch high-potential startups and to boost them globally through the Microsoft BizSpark program.



Rebecca Savage, Accelerator Pitch Coach

Rebecca is a lawyer with a passion for growing early stage companies. She has deep experience providing business counsel and operational strategy at all levels of an organization both in and out of the tech sector. Rebecca is currently a Mentor for the world renown Techstars accelerator program and her true passion is food and the intersection of environmentalism, animal welfare and creativity that is expressed through it.

Dorothy Cann Hamilton, USA Pavilion President

Dorothy Cann Hamilton is one of the most respected entrepreneurial educators and leaders shaping the American culinary landscape today. She founded the French Culinary Institute in 1984, which evolved into the International Culinary Center (ICC) in 2005. She remains CEO of ICC and is president of the Friends of the USA Pavilion Milano 2015.

Mitchell Davis, Ph.D., USA Pavilion Chief Creative Officer

Mitchell Davis is the Executive Vice President of the James Beard Foundation, a cookbook author, restaurant critic, food journalist and scholar with a degree in Hospitality Management from Cornell School of Hotel Management and a Ph.D. in Food Studies from New York University. He is leading the creative vision for the Friends of the USA Pavilion Milano 2015, overseeing all programming, content and design.

Charlie K. Faas, USA Pavilion CEO

Charlie Faas is an executive with more than 30 years of financial management and business operations experiences in a variety of industries in both the public and private sectors. He currently serves as CEO of the Friends of the USA Pavilion Milano 2015.

Jerry Giaquinta, J.D., Ph.D., USA Pavilion Chief Communication Officer

Jerry Giaquinta is a professor at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. He has over 25 years executive experience in marketing and communications at Sony Pictures Entertainment, Mercedes Benz, and Chiat Day Communications. He was Senior Advisor at Expo Aichi, 2005.

Douglas T. Hickey, USA Pavilion Commissioner General

Most recently president and CEO of San Francisco based BinWise, Doug Hickey has more than 20 years of experience holding senior-level positions in the telecom, Internet and technology space. He was appointed Commissioner General of the USA Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 by the U.S. Department of State in December 2014.

Patrik Faltstrom, Head of Research and Development at Netnod

Patrik is Head of Research and Development at Netnod, one of only three organizations outside of the USA running a so-called “root nameserver”. Previously, Patrik was a distinguished engineer at Cisco. He has held senior positions in Internet related standardization organizations since 1989 and is an international authority on Internet related technical infrastructure.

Paul Matteucci, Operating Partner of the Silicon Valley VC US Venture Partners, Founder of Feeding 10 Billion
